After a lovely insect-free bat-free night in Banos it was onwards to Quito to find Rachel. Ecuador is conveniently quite small so it doesn't take long to get anywhere - the 4 hour bus through the jungle to Quito was a joy compared to the crippling night buses of Peru.

I went to Secret Garden hostel where Rachel had been volunteering and we caught up over dinner.
