Seeing...in a different way

"The world is full of magic things, patiently waiting for out senses to grow sharper" W.B. Yeats
We were up early again (another beautiful day) and decided to spend some time at the Pompidou center. I treated myself by having ice cream in the morning at a gelateria near the art gallery, hey I'm on holiday right! After spending about 20 minutes trying to figure out how to get into the galleries (you would think this would be easy!) we first went to see a Jeff Koons exhibition, took a break for lunch and then viewed some of the permanent collection. I was impressed by the way the permanent collection was laid out, not by artist but by collective statement or ways in which they viewed the world around them. Many of the artists were from developing countries and touched upon universal themes such as the effect of conflict, negative treatment of minority groups and environmental disasters. It was a joyful and thought provoking experience and one of the many reasons I would love to go back to Paris. Our break for lunch was equally as satisfying. We came across a great little Jewish deli, so with sandwiches and snacks in hand we made our way to the Musee des Archives Nationales and ate our fill in the beautiful sun filled gardens there. We spent the rest of the afternoon exploring the Jewish Museum, wandered around Le Marais and ended up in the impressive Place des Vosges. Before we made our way to our little apartment we headed back to the Latin Quarter to the butcher and veg shop that we found the first day in order to acquire some food for the evening meal. We made it just as the butchers was closing, got a whole cooked chicken for 5 Euros, can't wait for dinner now!
