the shores of Loch Ness

A cooler day of muted colours.
We drove slowly from Inverness down the side of Loch Ness with stops for photos, walks and food. We visited Urquart castle on its banks, and we finished our drive in Fort Augustus  where the flight of locks connecting the Caledonian canal to the loch was a source of great fascination.
We joined an evening cruise on the loch, which included a very interesting talk. Apparently sonar has revealed that there is something large in there and the favourite theory is that it is a sturgeon.

A pleasant day rounded off with an overnight stay at Ardgarry Farm, the best B&B yet.
