FEEDING THE EELS

It is believed that these eels have been known to be living in this fresh water spring for 125 years. The adult eels migrate to Mozambique where they spawn, with the next generation migrating back to the fresh water along this coast line. There are 10 to 15 eels living here at the Palinggat Homestead at any given time. They are cherished by the community and fed every day at 11 o'clock with bits of chicken liver. I was told that when their eyes are blue they are ready to migrate.
