Music Festival

The weather held for a few hours today, so all the visitors were able to enjoy the annual music festival held in the village.

Our friend enjoyed the ambiance and the music though he and Mr C spent most of the time listening to the blues band. Our chimney sweep and scaffolder were doing a set when I dropped by.

Then I caught up with a friend to go with her to hear the traditional poetry competition. Her son's very funny poem won both cups, the open and local, and had us in stitches. However we were in tears with her daughter's poem which came second. Her friend is terminally ill and the poem was about her coming home.

Despite being in Northumberland, not Scotland, our village has its own pipe band. There are a few old characters among them, and it's great to see some young women members too.

I couldn't decide on a blip so made a montage of some of the band as I can't get the extra photo thing to work
