Castle Bay Barra

Back Blip #8
Was a bit of a Bumpy Minch crossing from Skye to Barra, despite conditions a couple of of Basking Sharks & some Bottlenose Dolphins were sighted. We arrived in Castle Bay for the night. Time for a stroll/Pint before dinner.

The Hebridean Princess featured above started out as the MacBraynes Car Ferry MV Columba, Built in 1964 in Aberdeen, she carried over 850 Passengers & Crew, in 1988 after being acquired by Hebridean Island Cruises she was converted for Luxury Cruises, further conversion turned the car deck into more accommodation giving the capacity she has today of 38 crew serving 50 passengers. (Needless to say I was not on this vessel)
The vessel has been chartered twice by a certain Mrs HM Queen for "Family"Holidays in 2006 & 2010.
