Saturday 16 June 2012: Frosty

Cold start to a beautiful day. Great drying weather - plenty of sunshine and a bit of a breeze.

Out again tonight this time to friends' for a pot luck dinner and to watch the All Blacks against Ireland. What a match! AB's somewhat fortunate to preserve their 'never-lost-to-Ireland' record but I'm pleased (relieved?) to say they scraped home with a last-few-minutes drop goal.

The game was the first Test match to be played in Christchurch for 2 years after the earthquakes and it was like a match from the old days - crowds close to the touch and end lines, rugged determination, blood . . . . . . and the underdogs almost spoiling the big boys party.

Good stuff.

I'll bet there's a lot of players from both sides who'll be needing a bit of ice tomorrow morning.
