Abstract

It was lovely to walk along the banks of the river today with mum, a slight breeze at times, mostly overcast and a warm 19C. Two men were whitebaiting from the banks while another was fishing in the river, the tide was going out while gulls cried and circled above and shags dived for fish. Although it was warm the overcast weather gave a more wintry look as the trees along the river are still bare and the blossom still in buds.

A reflection of the Kaiapoi bridge creating a calm abstract shot with a bonus of a little New Zealand scaup cruising up the river.

A lovely day spent with my mum, walkingS, having a wander, doing our usual grocery shop, lunching at mum's favourite café and stopping in at the Waikuku estuary where whitebaiting seemed to be in full swing.

Warm thanks for all of your lovely words, stars and fav's for yesterday's 'softness and frills' and also for your continued support for R. I'm finding commenting difficult and needing early nights at present but will stop by when I'm able, your words are always appreciated :)

And now as I type (4.20pm) the wind has arrived with gusto, swirling blossom and petals in the air, trees almost reaching over to touch their toes, raindrops are huge but there are few, clouds rushing through the thundery sky, the temperature has dropped and the fire siren hasn't stopped - I guess there are a few trees down. No lightning or hail like Christchurch but we are just a bit further north perhaps its still coming or perhaps my garden will be saved, time will tell.

And now the rain is lashing at the windows as the wind howls around the house, a wild and wet night could lie ahead.......

Happy Thursday everyone :)
