Sunday 17 June 2012: Pileated Woodpecker
(camping at Clearwater Lake camping area, Ocala National Forest- last day)
Two of these woodpeckers stopped at the log on the edge of our campsite as we sat at the picnic table (as seen in yesterday's blip)- one was feeding the other, a juvenile as big as the parent. I only got a couple clear shots, then they were behind bushes and vines, and we knew if we moved, they'd be gone.
We saw several other kinds of birds also. hated to leave, love the view of the lake from our site (watched the sunset from the canoe, in the middle of the lake last night).
