Bridging the gap

Had a lovely brunch with some of my expat girlfriends, during which we managed to organise the whole of our December Christmas social calendar and were quite surprised not to drive off the German couple perched at the end of our long table - given the topics of discussion I can only assume they didn't understand a word of English, or were deaf.
