Clayton, New York

The original plan was to spend an hour here visiting the antique boat museum and then head off to Oswego. But the weather changed everything. It was blowing and rough seas in Lake Ontario caused the captain to come up with plan B. We stayed in Clayton.

We did tour the museum which is wonderful. It has an extensive collection of boats in several nice and well kept buildings. We loved it.

After lunch we took a taxi into town to the local laundromat. The taxi cost $3.75 for four of us. No kidding. And the laundromat was clean and modern. We actually had fun and got the job done quickly.

Before dinner I took a solo walk into town and visited an art store that reminded me of the Chuckanut Bay Gallery in Bellingham. In fact they had some of the same artists.

After dinner Gloria, the resident naturalist, gave a talk on the Erie Canal. Now it is 10:30 and Arvin is in bed. We are on Lake Ontario and the seas are rocking the boat. Soon I plan to go to bed where I hope to be rocked to sleep.
