Punt

Something so beautiful and elegant about this old money. Yet this was very new when it was introduced in 1971, replacing the old £sd system of farthings, halfpennies, pennies, thruppences, sixpences, florins and half crowns with pence and pounds! Who can remember the shock of going decimal but try working things out in pennies and shillings now!
This glamorous coinage, heavy and beautifully designed, with the streamlined Irish thoroughbred and leaping salmon of knowledge were replaced by the frankly rather dull but easy to use euro in 2002. My entry for mono monday currently hosted by GoranZebhur.

Lots of wonderful decrepitude in this week's Derelict Sunday challenge and very difficult to chose only five for a a heart. Do take a look at all entries here.

However, faves this week go to:
Pictaker for a wonderful bit of faded Gothic glory
Marlieske for a glimpse of Paradies (sic)!
Pipersmom for a most bizarre sight and story
BVLFF for another bizarre sight and story - and do take a look at her video
SJB for a very sweet and pink bit of dereliction
Thanks to everyone who took part. We're now officially in DS4 so tag away whenever you spot something delightfully or darkly decrepit. This is my last week of hosting and I shall be handing over to sdg92 for week 5.

PS Really loved Brooklyn - slow, beautifully shot, wonderfully acted, realistic and rather melancholy
