Gillipaw's Journal

Storm Abigail

It's been The Talk of the Steamie today, and after a calm, sunny start, it began to brew.  Mid afternoon, power shower rain and very strong winds in Glasgow. We are on "Amber" alert.  This evening, some roads are flooded right over and in Newlands, the Police have closed a main road.  Not sure if it is flooding or a tree down.

The Western Isles and Shetland are taking the brunt of it, with 80-90 mph gusts, high seas and lightning expected. Schools closed, ferries cancelled.

This is the first time a storm has been named in the UK by the Met Office, after the public were invited to make suggestions.  The next ones to look out for will be Barney and Clodagh.

Thank you so much for the response to my backblip from 31 October The Enchanted Forest.
