Friday 29 June 2012: The spoils of war
Before our last oven went kablamo, taking the electrics for half the flat down too, we had perfected our homemade pizza - from dough recipe down to bake length.
We replaced the oven shaped hole with a new, better, more efficient (and shinier) oven. All was well with our baking, roasting, grilling etc, but one thing just wasn't right. The pizza was soggy, and horribly stuck to the pan.
After a few attempts, tweaking the recipe and process hear and there, we were no further forward. Homemade pizza was consigned to history, it just wasn't going to work out. It was a sad day.
Not so fast.
L had been hatching a plan. She'd marked out a few variables and set aside some time to get stuck in about the process. Lo and behold, she cracked it. A little extra semolina for friction and shaping the dough for proving on a silicon mat to then be transferred to the pan in the oven. Delicious.
p.s. I felt terrible today, but at least we all learnt about the pizza travails of Upper Gray St.
