Sweet Shape

I'm not sure why this form is so appealing, but I love the shape and the color and the tenderness of this plant. This is the first time we have grown Kabocha squash, and I am amazed at the size of the thing. It is sending arms out for a good six feet in every direction! The little sticky tendrils anchor themselves to anything within reach, so don't fall asleep near their bed. So far there are at least a half dozen round squash forming at the ends of the flowers, and the season has just begun; at this rate, we should be set for a winter of orange vitamins.
