Heather Isle

14.7C starting with rain which soon cleared. Bright spells through the morning then more cloud in the afternoon. Wind to 28 mph with gusts to 43 mph.

Maeve the Deerhound and I went through to Arbroath before 9am and had a walk round the harbour. The lock gate to the inner harbour was open, so we walked round to the boatyard and came back the same way. When we got there the rain had cleared but it was still quite dark. Only when we were almost back to the car did it really become fully light.

The harbour was packed full of boats large and small. The big fishing boat is still on the boatyard slipway, one side of the upper deck stripped back to the skeleton. Marigold, the boat I was hoping would be restored, is in the inner harbour moored just along from Heather Isle and there are signs of some work being undertaken on the deck and wheelhouse.

Maeve and I went for a walk after lunch. Van Morrison on the Nano (Avalon Sunset). Just a 2 mile loop down to the shore road and round the main road and back home.
