Wednesday 4 July 2012: Oyster mushrooms
It's Wednesday so the Haltwhistle Walkers set off as usual this morning. Tony led a 10 mile walk from Low Row in a big circuit to the north, returning by Lanercost. The weather was a bit unkind. It rained from the start but was warm and humid. When the rain eased, the midges came up in clouds.
It was a lovely route and we enjoyed it.
The rain meant that my camera was out of action for most of the day. In the woods by the river we came upon this magnificent crop of oyster mushrooms. I'm told they are delicious but no one seemed keen to pick them!
Thanks to everyone who responded so positively to the poppy pic from yesterday.
