Saturday 7 July 2012: St James Tarn

Driving home I had this thought that the St James tarn would look beautiful if it was still surrounded by snow, so I decided that if it was possible to pull off the road there I would.

It didn't cross my mind that it might be not only frozen but then covered with a coating of snow. The last snow here was over a week ago so it shows how little sun there has been since then. It is just starting to look slushy in a couple of places so if today's sun keeps up, and overnight temperatures don't drop too low, it might thaw over the next few days.

The tarn looked a little different last time I blipped it.

NOTE: A tarn is a small mountain lake (thanks Quigs for pointing out that this might not be common knowledge).
