The Kelpies

These magnificent steel monuments form the largest equine sculptures in the world and are also Scotland's biggest public artworks.

Andy Scott, their creator, said...
"I see the Kelpies as a personification of local and national equine history of the lost industries of Scotland.
i also envisage them as a symbol of modern Scotland, proud and majestic; of the people and the land....
....they stand testament to the achievements of the past; a tribute to artisanship and engineering; and a proud declaration of intent for the future."

Echo the great beasts that work among us
Unbridled in this kingdom
Between Canal and Firth -
Here to harness the river; carry each weary traveller.
Bow down your strong heads to taste the water.
Stretch up your long necks to face the sun
