Monday 9 July 2012: Sir Thomas Randolph, Bannockburn

We were greeted by Sir Thomas, 1st Earl of Moray, and nephew of Robert the Bruce. He told us his armour weighs about five and a half stones.

We learned much from him about the Battle of Bannockburn on 24 June 1314. He also dramatically displayed several weapons of war, very gruesome.

From here, we had the busiest touring day so far with our US friends :-
Stirling Castle for a brief view over to the Wallace Monument.
The Falkirk Wheel, with a walk through the tunnel to the Union Canal.
Drive over the Kincardine Bridge.
Culross Palace, and a walk around the village.
Drive over the Forth Bridge.
Down to South Queensferry for a "Bridges" photostop.
Linlithgow : quick view of the Palace and Loch.
And then dinner with several members of my family.
