Networking

We went to a "Jelly" networking event just down the road from us today. The massive and long-empty buildings of the domaine were inherited by two sisters, Aude and Florence, from a relative, and they decided to turn them into gites and a cafe/shop. An ambitious project; the renovations took a couple of years, and they finally opened late last summer. To my shame I had never been to the cafe until today even though we drive past whenever we go anywhere. The sisters are lively and full of ideas; they host artistic workshops and wine-tastings, take guests on tours around the vineyards, and the cafe, furnished with old pieces from their family homes,  has an eclectic mix of local produce and crafts.

I enjoyed the morning -- there was a good mix of people, most of whom I hadn't met before, including Jenny Trinks, a young German artist who works in glass. We didn't see any of her work as it's not easily transportable, but there's a video here that gives a glimpse of it -- looks amazing. We didn't get much work done, but there was lots of interesting chat!

Afterwards S and I stayed on and had a simple lunch in the cafe with Aude and Florence and a friend of theirs. It was good to meet them.
