Snake Pass Inn

Backblipped for 17th April

King Richard III continues to rest in peace, undisturbed by any intrusion by the Flums, as we had no time to pay him a visit but will try to make an appointment to do so in the future. I doubt he's going anywhere in the meantime.

Our route north took us over the Snake Pass, popular with motorcyclists and motorists alike, though scenically uninspired. However, the Snake Pass Inn makes a warm welcome and a decent cup of coffee. Lunch (of yesterday's leftovers) was taken at Holm Moss viewpoint, with stunning views to the north but still patches of snow all around. Off then towards the motorways and our accommodation at Forton.

For a walk before dinner we investigated the nearby ruins at Cockersand, once an important Abbey which fell into disuse as early as 1539, and of which little more than the chapter house remains.(Extra photo with wonky lighthouse beyond).
