Setting out

Bosham is one of my favourite places, and where better to have my birthday lunch? It makes me feel good just to be there.

Bosham is a small coastal village a few miles west of Chichester, on one of the many arms of Chichester Harbour. It has been settled since Roman times,. It is thought to be the birth and burial place of the last Saxon King, Harold of England, and has a strong ecclesiastical history in the Middle Ages. It features in the Bayeux Tapestry and the Domesday book.

In the nave in the church there is an ancient grave of a child. Tradition has it that here lies King Canute's little daughter, drowned in the local brook.

But today Bosham was abuzz with people enjoyin g the water and the sunshine. Temperatures in the 20's.
