Blip 195

Another busy thought provoking day, visiting some of the battlefields of the Somme. The main blip is of Thiepval the memorial to the missing British and South African soldiers who fought on the Somme  and also serves as an Anglo-French memorial commemorating the joint nature of the offensive.. In extras is a blip of the Devonshire Cemetery many of whom were killed in the first few hours of the first day of the battle, and the last blip is of the  Caribou commemorating the soldiers of Newfoundland who fell in the battle. Hopefully on my return I'll be able to post a few things on Flickr showing more of this and also the memorials to others such as the South Africans, Australians, men of the Ulster regiments and others.
