Low Tide, Morning

Another minus tide, giving us a wide swath of beach and a view from a spot that's usually under water. The tall structure on the left is a tourist hotel dating from the 1960s. (Santa Cruz trivia: It was called the Dream Inn back then. In the 90s it changed hands and was rebranded as the Coast Santa Cruz Hotel, something that never stuck with the locals, who always called it the Dream Inn. Some time ago the corporation gave up and restored the original name.) Just past the hotel is the wharf, home to many restaurants and souvenir shops. And the beige structure almost in the center of the image is the main casino at the Boardwalk.
