Back to the Trenches

Another open afternoon at the "Digging In" Trenches in Pollok Park.  The digging has extended beyond "Trongate" now and the reserve trench is developing, named "Fraser Avenue".

Interesting to learn about the Kitchener's Knitting stitch, which means there is no join at the toe end, lessening the possibility of blisters. One of volunteers was demonstrating this, with several needles, samples of finished socks on display. They also had knitted balaclavas, with longer neck lengths.

Next Open Day may be Sunday 3 July, with information about the Battle of the Somme. More about Digging In here.
