Was It Really So Long Ago

Summer

Somehow, or by someone unknown, the jet stream has realigned to its proper position and the Summer that we've been so longing for arrived all at once, in concentrated form.

It started, just over a week ago. We found ourselves cowering under stormy skies, that brought flash flooding and a 2.5 hour Friday drive home. Next, the temperatures rocketed past 30oC at which point, the office air conditioning failed to produce anything, even warm air (yes I know many of you will have struggled through the sup-tropic conditions without such luxury). In Winter, Autumn and Spring, it happily throws icy drafts down the necks of anyone working within its reach, but no, not when its really needed.

This weekend however, the weather has tempered, to a more moderate 22oC. We saw only the slightest of showers yesterday evening, just sufficient to settle the dust before the London 2012 opening ceremony (Oh and what a show that was - I was there at the rehearsal - see previous blip). We enjoyed an opening ceremony party with friends, which ran into the early hours, so this morning was a good deal shorter than most Saturdays.

Luckily, we've been bathed in sunshine and warmth all day. By the time we'd enjoyed a late breakfast / early lunch out, the afternoon had arrived. I raced through a couple of chores and then managed to find some time to head out with the new olympics lens. Yes, we'e going back to the stadium to see a morning of track and field events and beloved quite unexpectedly said, just go out and buy that lens, you deserve it!!!! In a flash it was done.

In the meadow, by the river in the valley, I was surrounded by bees, thistles and butterflies. Thistle bee about the best of them. Thanks (and sorry)

I hope you like it.
