Lofoten

Well, that was the Lofoten Islands. I am sure they are very beautiful and it would have been very nice to have seen them on a clear day; but it was not to be. Even though a local told us that this was, in fact, the best day for a couple of weeks!!

We were dropped off in the square of this little village. There was a petrol station and the Co-op, and not much else it appeared. The cafe had plenty of outside seating, but it was closed - in July! It obviously does not cater for tourists.

Still, it is obviously a healthily active fishing community. There are more working boats in this harbour than I have seen in most seaports at home.

Perhaps my disappointment at this visit is partially to do with the superb sights and experiences of the previous parts of this holiday. Overall, it has been one of the best fortnights away that I have ever had.

Back to the ship, and a final 'Arctic' swim. Tomorrow we will be south of the Circle, and it will just be a normal dip in the pool.
