The Lambert Building

A little bit of history going down. The Lambert Building was closed in February after being assessed by engineers as dangerous and deemed a 'total loss' from the earthquakes.

The front of the building can be seen here, with the shipping containers in front or here, notice the shipping containers at the rear on top of the roof of the pharmacy in the above image.

The Lambert Building was built in 1914 and known as the Allison Building,  with the chemist shop below while the chemists family lived above. There has always been a chemist or pharmacy operating from this building, now the fences are in place and demolition will be happening in the next week or so.

Bit different seeing the rear of the building, a building which certainly looks plain and simple in architecture but is still part of this towns history.

I wonder what will take its place or if a big empty space will be left for the wind to howl through during our nor'west winds in October/November carrying all the dust and grit thats left lying around - time will tell.

Its National Tree Day in New Zealand today, thought I would include the tree.

Better fly now, its late and theres still some jobs to be done - have a great week blippers :)

PS Meant to say it felt like spring today, no jacket required while out and about and I saw some blossom, spring is near :))

PPS The local council has given up its front garden to house temporary premises for some businesses until things get sorted however how long that may be, the pharmcay has gone there :)

Sorry for the extra edits, did this in a bit of a hurry :)
