Glimpses of Blackheath 9

Last time we were at the sports ground here. Before that we'd checked out Don Bradman's exploits at the ENTRANCE to the Sports Ground here. Before that again, we'd looked across the road at a night time view of the Victory Theatre Cafe here.

Okay, let's make our way back toward the Victory Theatre Cafe. If we are coming from the Sports Ground we will find ourselves headed for the railway line, on the left hand side of Govett's Leap Rd, by the time we arrive. Walk forward a few more paces, turn ninety degrees left, proceed well into the car park and look back toward the way you have come, by your left. You will see the mural pictured above. It was designed by famous Blackheath artist, Jenny Kee and painted by members of the local community.

Now every Blackheathen blipper will have shot this at some stage and so this version cannot possibly be described as original. Anyway, for the record, this is my attempt.

As an interesting addendum to this journal entry I have to say that the official Blue Mountains Tourism website says the mural was created in 1985. Further research (prompted by Cymbeline, below) now seems to confirm that the work was actually done in 1998. This is supported by two other websites, and a Blue Mountains Gazette article which embodies a direct quote from Jenny Kee, alluding to 1998.
