Sophie...

...the bee that cannot fly. I blipped her on Sunday, yesterday, and didn't really expect to see her again today. I have a large enough overgrown garden so to see the same tiny bee walking the next day was a surprise.

If you look closely you can see the tip of the wings on each have not unfurled. It is like a black dot. Her wings still haven't unfurled.

Sophie has to walk everywhere, and she expends a lot of energy in doing so. She grooms herself constantly (probably trying to get those wing tips to unfurl).

Each time I went into the garden I put Sophie on to a flowering plant little bees like.

Sophie walked along thin stems, took tumble after tumble. She did double somersaults, backflips, just about every manoeuvre you do not expect a bee to do. She is a plucky, determined little creature.
