Sunday 5 August 2012: Big

First of all, it's over ten feet tall, maybe twelve. The stalk is a good two inches in diameter. And the flower is nearly twice the size of my head, folding itself in half on the giant stem. It was planted by birds or a squirrel at the edge of the vegetable bed, where we, in amazement, have let it flourish.
