Tuesday 7 August 2012: Mannequin

Tonight I attended a Lyon & Turnbull private view of the Taffner Collection at the Glasgow School of Art. It was an opportunity to view an extraordinary collection put together over many years by Donald & Eleanor Taffner. The collection features the work of Charles Rennie Mackintosh, Margaret Macdonald Mackintosh, Frances Macdonald MacNair and James Herbert MacNair. Also included are works by the Scottish Colourists F.C.B Cadell and J. D. Fergusson, together with a fine late portrait by Sir John Lavery.

While at the School of Art, I had a look round the current exhibition in the Mackintosh Gallery, Studio 58: Women Artists In Glasgow Since World War II. This is an eclectic series of themes, styles, materials, sensibilities, politics and decades from more than 50 artists. This interesting mannequin caught my attention.
