The Purple Heather

A good night last night - the Fish Kitchen was excellent - lots of fish (!) and some delicious accompanying veg and veggies were also well catered for - I had a very tasty stir fry and noodles. But please take a look at this outrageous pavlova that Lois made for us to eat later! And we did - every scrap! Chinese lanterns were let off but it was a bit damp by then and we were all a bit nervous of the lifeguards being inadverdently called out!

Weird weather today, even by Irish standards. It's very warm and humid - the heat is coming up off the ground and there are some amazing mist and cloud combinations going on. Himself went off to Cork and I went to the north side for a bit of exploration and trespass- very satisfactory. This is the view across towards the Beara from the Goat's Path. The blues were amazing and the the hedgerows are now full of heather, fuchsia and montbretia - dazzling. Worth biggifying. I visited a ring fort, two abandoned farms, an old church and got my feet soaked - no wellies but my snazzy Keen walking sandals were up to the job, though my feet now look like cow pats.

The third out of the four weekly plays tonight down in Kilcrohane - Mimic 'a fascinating attempt to achieve the impossible' The Irish Times!

And a bit of music to enjoy with the scene :the purple heather
