eyes finally open

one of my other toys.....

here is the reason i have been so quiet lately, i got this beauty a few weeks ago now. when i havnt been playing with boats and vintage engines or minature cars and big cars, i have been out riding this.

i have never had (or wanted) anything new before, mainly as my interests lie in things that are at the very least thirty years old, but this is the closest i wil ever get i would imagine. it is a **12*** reg, brand new in march, this years latest model, and it came to me with just 300 miles on the clock, for roughly half the list price! the guy i bought it from only had it a few weeks, scared himself to death with it, and then sold it to me.

for those in the know (or who care) its a cpi sprint, modelled on old british cafe racers from the 60s. it has some nice touches like front disc brake, upside down forks, reverse megaphone silencer (although i fitted that), seat pod at the back, and proper chrome wheels! i did swap the bars for some ace bars, but they made my back hurt after a few miles, so have swapped back for a while. the decals on the tank are something i drew out myself, styled on the "norton" scrpit but featuring my own sir-name instead, so its got a little uniqueness about it now. it certainly gets some attention, 2 seperate people have mistaken it for a ducatti, and everyone seems to think its "in lovely condition for an old one" until i ride away and they catch the brand new reg on the back!

the trotter van has recieved the first stages of the elaborate steering system fitted up today, its using a toothed belt and two pulleys system to position the steering wheel infront of the driver. its taken some fiddling as its pretty cramped under the bonnet, but it works! tomorrow should see the roof hole in (for your head to poke out) and maybe some more side and rear panels....
