wells cathedral

missed a few days again didnt i!

nevermind, this weekend we are down in cheddar for a few days, visiting a few places i have intended to see for a while, and re-capping on a few i wanted to re-see.

we went into wells on the afternoon for a look around and for me to totally "geek out" about the location one of my favorite films was made. wells is where "hot fuzz" was filmed, however it is set in the phictional town of sandford, in gloucester (this is the name of the town used in police training)

i visited the shop where the two main characters sgt angel, and pc butterman go to get their cornettos, and various other spots.

anyway, we also had a good look around the wells cathedral, and it has to be said it is easily the most impressive cathedral i have been in, the stone work is just amazing. despite the intricate decoration of every detail in the entire building, the most impressive feature in there was these huge arches and round holes. they are very plain in comparison to the rest but despite being from the 1300s they have a real art deco look to them. sadly i couldnt capture their awesome size, but take it from me they are amazing!
