After the alarm

The fire alarm went off at Kings College London this morning, but this tenacious young woman carried on studying on a window seat outside the main campus. 

Kings covers the outside of their buildings with images of their famous alumni, I would guess around a third are women.

I woke up at 4am to see the US Election result come in. The idea of President Trump seemed inconceivable until a few weeks ago, the reality is at the moment terrifying.

I think that the success of his campaign had a lot to do with him persuading white working class males that they are a disenfranchised minority. my answer to that would be "there's no war but guys you've got to step up, like we women and our brothers and sisters of colour have"

As someone who went to school with feminism and political empowerment high on the agenda I am hoping this young woman's future is good, that she will be allowed to follow her ambitions.
