Glimpses of Blackheath 12

Last time we were looking at that (I can admit it now) fairly awful mural on the railway station building. It is interesting to the extent that it illustrates "The Govett's Leap Legend".

Anyway, let's get outa here. Turn 180 degrees, bound back up the steps to the pedestrian bridge, turn left and make your way down to street level on the Great Western Highway. Cross the main road at the traffic light assisted pedestrian crossing, turn left and walk about 20 metres until you get to Gardiners Crescent. Turn right until you reach Wentworth Street where you turn right again and walk about 30 metres. Then cross the road and here we are.

This is the Blackheath Presbyterian Church .. and what a magnificent building it is ... for a country town. There are quite a few neo Gothic cues to it, which I find most interesting.

Now I am not an especially religious person but I am extremely saddened to tell you that this fine church is virtually without a congregation any more.
