The apprentice

Today we went up to Alston to have a look at some Border Collie puppies. We went with an open mind - it was by no means certain that we would bring one back - though of course we did. He and his brothers were found in a bin bag at the end of at farm track in Ireland at four days old. They were found by a rescue kennel and hand-reared then brought over here to be re-homed.

Millie is a little put out and doesn't seem to be as charmed as everyone else, but he seems determined to impress her with his stick skills. But its sheep herding skills that we really want from him. One day he WILL be a proper working sheepdog...

So far we haven't settled on a name - Lauren likes Alan, I prefer Zach. Alan seems to be the most popular, though probably more for its comedy value. It needs to be short and sharp and something that can be shouted loudly and without embarrassment. Any ideas or opinions are welcome.
