Windy at Westport

13.0C (it did feel mild!) and dull/cloudy with periods of thinner cloud. A few light showers then some rain later. Wind to 38 mph with gusts to 48 mph. Stronger winds forecast though the night and most of Monday as storm Conor comes in further North.

Mid morning we went to Westport beach with Maeve the Deerhound and had a long walk towards Machrihanish. It was just after high tide and there wasn't much beach left to walk on and with the sea driven on towards the beach by the wind there were waves still sweeping up the sand towards us with plenty of foam too. No wet feet today though. Visibility was good and we could see down past the Mull of Kintyre, but looking North we could only see Islay and not Jura. We managed to cross the second burn on the way towards Machrihanish but the third burn beat us today. Between the water running towards the sea and the waves coming in there was a deep cut in the sand and to much depth of water to cross. By the time we got back to the car my glasses were thick with salt spray. It was great to get out for a decent walk though.

Home for lunch, then we sat by the tree and opened some presents and had a lazy afternoon.
Harry Potter was on telly again.

Later there will be Christmas dinner ...

... and a very Merry Christmas to you all !
