Rachel's 5th Birthday

Life Before Blip: 30 Years Ago

When the children were small we inherited a large, square dining table. It came in so handy for birday parties with some extra seats brought in.

This is Rachel's 5th birthday party. Her little sister, Kathy, as she was called then, is beside her and 10 of her friends are around the table. The previous photos had masses of sausage rolls, chips, and crisps on, the table. The mums were in the comfy chairs with wine and cheesecake!

Unfortunately the angle of the shot doesn't show the cake very well. Learning to tell the time was a big thing at this age and it was decorated like a clock with the hands and candles pointing to 5 o'clock.

It was a big thing then, for mums to make and decorate a nice cake. It seems that the Modern Working Mummy goes and buys a ready decorated cake to grace the table. I miss these times.

These days are all gone now but some things remain
When I look and I find....."  GRANDCHILDREN!
