Blipper's Daily (?)

That Obscure Object of Desire

Yesterday the latest fix in my obsession with film cameras arrived (via eBay). A Minolta C220 TLR with a 80 mm f2.8 lens (the Mamiyas were some of the very few TLRs with interchangeable lenses). Spent this evening giving it a check over and a service (dust, clean, check shutter and aperture operation and replace the light seals) and it's all 100% functional, not bad for a camera that's 30-44 years old (not yet had a chance to pin down the age more precisely from the serial number). As expected the light seals had pretty much reverted to their original raw material state (rubber foam turns back into something resembling thick sticky oil when left for a few decades) but this is the third camera I've done this job on now and whilst it's a tedious job it's relatively straight forward and cheap (as long as you have cotton wool buds, bamboo skewers, kitchen towel, lighter fluid and the appropriate foam strip).

So it's off to Jessops tomorrow to get a roll of 120 film to try it out.....then my film cameras (this one, this one and the Mamiya) will outnumber my digital cameras!

PS - please don't tell FilmBlipper about this new camera or he will probably want to borrow it.
