Grand Canyon

First morning in Vegas and its hot, hot, hot!
Walked down to the 'Welcome to Vegas' sign as it has to be done. Then we made our way to the airport and boarded a small plane to the Grand Canyon. Here we got a helicopter flight over the south part of the canyon. Riding in a helicopter was part of my 30@30 list but even if it was not this was an unmissable experience. I cannot put into words the feeling as you go over the rim, such a stark contrast to the hustle and bustle of Vegas.
After the flight we got to explore the park a little bit. Standing on the edge of the canyon made you feel so small, truly worthy in its place as one of the wonders of the world.
On the way back we saw a massive Elk, it was beautiful but causing a bit of a traffic jam with people stopping to stare.
Back to the plane and a humbling trip back to the buzz of the city.
Quick change for dinner and back out into the still baking heat. Found a nice place for dinner down a side alley off the strip. Mum and Dad decided to call it a night so Caroline and I headed off to explore a bit more. We gambled a dollar on the slot machines, I lost, Caroline won. The highlight was watching the fountains out the front of the Bellagio hotel.
A long but incredible day.
