Island Life

Today was a wonderful day at the Cape Clear Story Telling Festival, the ferry crossing from Schull takes about an hour, through the Islands of Roaring Water Bay and across the open Atlantic, where there was quite a swell. We arrived at North Harbour with just enough time to have coffee before the first event of the day. Tall Tales by a short woman with Katrice Horsley. A good stretch of the legs was needed after this, so a with a couple friends we set of to South Harbour and a dramatic cliff walk, the route back took us through some small farms typical of the Island, where there are no sheep, just cattle.
The second story telling session was Tales of the Odyssey by Daniel Morden, I really enjoyed this one. Fish and chips and a pint at one of the local hostelries, then a long and very steep hike to the evening performance, a very popular event, four story tellers, with very different tales to tell, my favourite was a hillarious story by local man Diarmuid o Drisceoil. I got quite wet on the long road back to the hostel but I slept well and was unaware if any of my fellow room mates were snoring!
