PAPO Paintings

These are the two paintings I did at the Plein Air Paint Out in August. Here are my paintings in large. There are 29 paintings from 24 artists in the upcoming show. The opening is Thursday night from 6-8. If you live nearby please stop in to see all the wonderful paintings. The show is at Mindport Gallery in Bellingham. It is on Holly Street just above Bay Street.

This morning I photographed all of the paintings and they are really fine! All the paintings are 8x10 (or 10x8) and all are framed the same. That's how it was last year and it makes for a great show. Each painting was done between 9 am and 5 pm and had to be turned in at the end of the day. We all painted in the city so passers by could see how important art and artists are to the life of our city.

Note later in the evening... It occurs to me I might explain what the paintings are, especially the one on the right. Your eyes are not deceiving you. That is a rocket. We have a local chain of donut shops called "Rocket Donuts" owned by a science fiction lover. The painting on the right is of a big rocket sculpture in their parking lot. It is one of my favorite pieces of sculpture in the city. The painting on the left is looking up the Holly Street sidewalk from the corner of Holly and Bay, on the opposite corner from the parking lot where the rocket is.
