David Weir

Paralympic Marathon

Perfect front row views at Westminster Bridge

We saw him four times on his laps and the finish was about half a mile away from here.

There were no big screens so we had to wait for word of mouth to see whether he had converted this second place to Gold.

A few minutes later the news came down the crowds from the mall like a giant Mexican good news wave.

He won. Well done doesn't even begin to cover it. Apparently in his post race interview he said he was so tired in this race he thought he would die. That's how hard elite athletes work.

Amazing amazing amazing and brilliant that Shelley Woods made it silver in the women's.

How lucky we have been to see so much Paralympic action

We will always be able to say we were there.

Thanks for all your comments on yesterday's blip. I loved that view also.

I am shattered , skint and filthy . Would I do it all again ? Hell yes. London 2072 and I will be there !!! And I'll make even more noise as a 101 year old!!!

Xx
