Welding In The Rain

I was waiting for a loaner car to be brought around for me at the auto dealer's garage (I left my car there overnight for work) when I looked out the window and saw sparks in the air.

That's when I spotted this welder soldering two beams together high above the ground. Okay, not so special? It's not obvious in the photo but it was pouring rain!

I don't know what that umbrella was protecting but it wasn't the welder.
