The Lozarithm Lens

The Old Forge (Thursday 1st June 2017)

While the window fitter was finishing off his handiwork I was going round the rooms putting back everything that had been displaced to enable the new frames, taking the opportunity to reposition stuff to make the most of the windows, and taking pictures of course. This was taken in the bathroom.
I used flash because as it was brighter outside than in, I couldn't get the colour of the foil-wrapped window frames otherwise, without blowing out the woodland garden details.

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
The Beatles - Strawberry Fields Forever (recorded Studio 2, Abbey Road, 29 November 1966 and 9-22 December 1966)
John Lennon regarded this as his finest composition and I would tend to agree. It was the first song to be recorded at the Sgt Pepper sessions, taking 45 hours to complete, but did not appear on the album as it and Penny Lane were released on a double-sided single prior to the album's release. It featured Paul McCartney on one of those new-fangled Mellotrons.
It is included on the second CD of the 50th Anniversary Sgt Pepper release, which I was playing for the first time this day on my Audio-Technica headphones. It was both familiar and yet revelatory as the mix by Giles Martin added so much clarity.
This was because the original mixes were created by "bouncing tracks" from the 4-track tapes to create the multi-track masters, introducing tape noise at each stage, whereas Giles Martin was able to copy each track separately onto digital multi-track channels.
This is the only track on the new Sgt Pepper release to have been available before, although new to CD, as he had mixed it in 2015 for the promotional video to be found on the Blu-Ray/DVDs that accompanied the 1+ package.
