MonoMonday Challenge - 179 15 Minutes of Fame

This sky line may be familiar to some of you.  It is Monte Carlo.  Home to the rich and famous.  I am neither one - though I get the chance to visit this interesting place from time to time, sometimes by bicycle, usually by car.  This evening was only by passing and we didn't actually go into the city.  I took Mrs C for a romantic birthday dinner on Cap d'Ail which is on the west side by a little bit.  The idea was that we would go into the city afterwards to try our luck at the casino, but I was feeling under the weather and had to retreat home. :(

My 15 minutes of fame... My first year in Italy and my first visit to Monte Carlo (at a much younger age... nearly 20 years ago) wearing my first and very cheap Italian suit (mostly polyester)... and a meet-up with two college buddies for the F1 GP weekend... we were all feeling very cavalier and full of ourselves.  I'd never been to a casino before and knew nothing about the tables... I put in 50 francs at the door and walked out with more than 1500.  :)  I still have one of the tokens I kept for good luck.

So, my first round at Roulette and I am just kind of observing... even/odd, red/back, full, half, four corners... then I won on the first spin and in a super excited state of wow, I reached out to pick up my winnings that were placed on my number, which got a very sharp and stern correction from the table manager.  You can imagine my embarassament among all the other much more suave patrons who were also shocked by my maneuver.  'oh, so rude!'  They probably had their Ferarris and Rolls Royces parked out front that were also screaming 'oh, so rude!'  haha

haha, the memory lives with me to this day....
