Bloody infuriating. Mostly it's my lens that's not playing ball. The focus limiter is from 19 to 40cm. It needs to be something like 22-25cm or else it just focuses on the flowers behind given half the chance.
One thing I've learned - we have at least 3 species of hover fly visit the garden: yellow and black; yellow, white and black; silver and black (this one).
